The centrepiece of former TSO music director Sir Andrew Davis’s programme is the warm-hearted Symphony No. 1 by Britain’s greatest composer, Sir Edward Elgar. Elgar declared that it embodied “great charity (love) and a massive hope in the future.” Violinist Stefan Jackiw, whom the Baltimore Sun praised as an artist who “…plays with the incisiveness and exquisite taste of an Old World, long-seasoned fiddler” makes his TSO début with a sweet, lyrical Mozart concerto.
