What
The Toronto Salsa Practice is a relaxed, friendly gathering of salsa enthusiasts. It’s an opportunity to practice stuff you’re not totally confident about yet, learn some new moves, and meet other salsa dancers of all levels. There is no formal instruction; instead, we help each other improve our dancing – or we just dance for fun. The TSP has existed, in one form or another, since early 2001. Since early 2002 it has been a regular event.Who
Some of us show up for every practice; others occasionally. Dancers of all levels attend, from beginners to professionals, and everybody dances with people of every level. We change partners often – usually with every song – so you get to dance with people with a wide variety of styles and abilities. You don’t have to bring a partner; there are lots of people to dance with. Women are encouraged to ask men to dance.
Young salsa dancers are welcome, but for safety’s sake, you must be at least four feet tall to attend the practice.
Where
We meet at Trinity-St. Paul’s church, at 427 Bloor Street West – on the south side of Bloor, just west of Spadina (the church is between the Dominion store and Kinko’s copy place). Use the entrance in the centre of the building, on the side facing Bloor Street. We don’t always use the same room, so when you come in, look for our sign, or ask at the glass-fronted booth on your left. When
There are two sessions every Saturday: an Afternoon Session, from 3:30 to 5:30; and an Evening Session, from 5:30 to 8:00.Cost
Admission to the Afternoon Session is $4.00 or by membership (for more information about membership, click here). Admission to the Evening Session is $4.00.Contact info:
